Dear Flowers Members,
We are incredibly pleased to offer you the latest vintage of our highly limited Site Series wines from Sea View Ridge: our 2022 Pietra and Cielo Pinot Noir.
Years of rigorous studies revealed the diverse makeup of soils in unique “neighborhoods” throughout this remote coastal vineyard—a mosaic of contrasts shaped by ancient geologic upheaval that formed our rocky ridgelines. Responding to those differences, we’ve been able to dial in our winemaking—adjust fermentations, vessels, and timing—to amplify the distinct expression of each micro site.
At the entrance to Sea View Ridge, the Pietra block occupies a striking outcropping marked by fractured red rock evolved from ancient basalt. The vines push their roots deep into the fissures, seeking the veins of iron-rich sandy clay laced through the rock. Aboveground, briny Pacific breezes course through pine forests, layering earthy aromas and hints of salinity under the savory minerality of our Pietra, alive with the kinetic energy of the soil.
In striking contrast, Cielo commands the highest point of Sea View Ridge—at 1,875 feet in full sun above the fog line. Here, soils over the ancient basalt are shallow, gravel mixed with wind-blown silt, cobbles sending complexity up through roots while vines reach for the sky. The aromas in our Cielo Pinot Noir are both intense and ethereal, textures are deep but sensual, and flavors concentrated but electric with cool coastal acidity.
Our understanding of the layers underground has inspired us to single out the fruit in these blocks, to craft wines that express remarkable—and beautiful—differences within the whole of the vineyard. We hope that, together, they express the nuances and complexity of our wild and remote Sea View Ridge.

2022 Pietra Pinot Noir
Our 2022 Pietra Pinot Noir is grounded in the fractured rock of that block, with prominent flintiness running throughout. Earthy forest aromas, joining with hints of moss-flecked boulders at the water’s edge nearby, offer an overall savory umami quality. A contrast of light and dark fruit is wrapped snuggly in fine tannins on the palate, creating texture married to kinetic energy that makes the wine alive. The effect is of roots picking up layers as they dive deep into the soil, delivering hints of salinity and lovely minerality through a beautiful finish.
2022 Cielo Pinot Noir
With ethereal energy, out 2022 Cielo Pinot Noir reaches for the sky. Aromatic rose petal notes on the nose hover in that moment between fresh and preserved, while white raspberries off the vine mingle with wild mint and crushed rock. Subtle tannins are perfectly integrated with waves of bright acidity across the palate, intertwined with hints of rose hip tea that lift the wine towards a lingering finish, translucent in a current of minerality carried by a forest breeze.
