The 2009 vintage started off with another mild winter and cool spring.  Late spring rains provided ample soil moisture and abundant cover crops (creating organic matter when plowed under) going into the growing season. Temperatures and weather conditions were ideal during bloom and encouraged good fruit-set and uniformity.  Temperatures were on the cool side throughout most of the summer and we observed excellent flavor development early in the season.  The DZ vineyard was the first to be picked in 2009 the Friday before Labor Day
