January began with beautiful days and cool nights before the first winter storm moved on shore later in the month. Consistent rainfall from winter through late April helped firmly establish the cover crop and replenish vital nutrients to the soil. May was a beautiful month of sunny days that lead to a healthy, vibrant canopy. One final rainfall occurred over Memorial Day weekend but then gave way to stable and reliable weather for the entirety of bloom in early June. We gained a firm idea of the fantastic fruit set by the third week of June, which was welcome news after the previous two challenging vintages. The remaining summer months were consistently warm and clear leading to the start of harvest on August 31st. The long growing season contributed to an excellent concentration of flavors. The dry and consistently warm temperatures allowed us to make pick decisions that were optimal in every case and to complete harvest in a deliberate and measured manner.
